Financial Aid: Completing the FAFSA
Each year of college, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA serves as the application for all federal, state, and institutional financial aid. Students can file their FAFSA online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov beginning October 1 each year. This is the fastest and most efficient way to file the FAFSA. Those without internet access, can obtain a paper FAFSA by calling the Federal Student Aid Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243).
Items needed to complete the FAFSA:
If you plan to attend college from Summer Semester 2020-Spring Semester 2021 you can submit the FAFSA from October 1, 2019-June 30, 2021. You must use tax information from 2018.
First-Priority DeadlineSome forms of federal and institutional financial aid are limited due to funding levels. These aid programs are considered priority awards. To be considered for priority awards, students should complete the FAFSA by OHIO's first-priority consideration date of January 15. Be advised that filing the paper FAFSA can take 6-8 weeks for processing. FAFSA results must be received before or during the time of enrollment to be considered for financial aid. The financial aid award year begins in the summer semester and ends in the spring semester.
